Description
A butter bell or butter keeper is the traditional way the French store and serve butter. It features two components, the bell (inner part) and the base (outer part). It helps keep butter fresh on the counter for up to 30 days.
Fill the inner (bell) jar with butter and the base with enough water that it touches the base of the bell. The water is the seal against outside air. Ensure you change the water every three days to keep it clean and fresh. If you pick up the lid with the butter in it and hold it for a few seconds the water runs off easily because water and butter don't mix.
Note: Do not leave out in heat or near window, in hot climate butter will melt.
